The Nutrience Oakville 21.1 Half-Marathon, 10k & 5K race, powered by Oakville Nissan and Oakville INFINITI will see more than 2,500 runners take to the streets Sunday October 5th. This is the second annual event presented by Endurance Event Productions in Oakville, and the excitement is building!
“We are thrilled to be back in Oakville with this race,” says co-race director Cindy Lewis-Caballero. “Runners love the beautiful course along Lakeshore Road and the tour through some of Oakville’s most scenic neighbourhoods and parks.”
The largest group in this race by far is the half-marathon (21.1km) distance, which sold out at 1400 registrations. Most of those runners are local, but they will be competing with international athletes coming from Norway, South Africa, the UK, Bermuda, as well as from across Canada and the United States.
“Nutrience has returned as our title sponsor, and they are joined by presenting sponsor Oakville Nissan and Oakville INFINITI”, adds co-race director Sandie Orlando. “The support of Oakville-based companies, including Radix Gym and Global Citizen Promotional Products and Apparel, goes a long way to creating an exciting event.”
More than 200 volunteers will be on the course and in Shell Park to help ensure the event runs smoothly and athletes are safe. Athletes have the option of making charitable donations to the Oakville Hospital Foundation, Fare Share Food Bank, Lymphoma Canada and the Oak Park Community Centre.
Thanks go to the town of Oakville, Gatorade, CL Performance Training, SkyWords Traffic, Leaps & Bounds Performance Rehabilitation, Access Abilities, Apple Self Storage, KT Tape, Athletic Brewing, Marsquest, Mike Cheliak Photography and Global Citizen Promotional Products and Apparel for their support. Course Dynamics is managing the course, and Odyssey Medical, along with Halton Police and Halton Paramedics will be providing any medical assistance required.
Athletes will be taking shuttle buses from Bronte GO station to Shell Park for a 7:30am start. Kit pick up will be held on Saturday, October 4th at The Holiday Inn & Suites at Bronte. A pre-race kit pick-up in Toronto on Thursday, October 2nd will be at Culture Athletics.
